Sorry, Ben’s not here. And he never has been.
There is no “Ben C.” that has never tried a “free class”, nor trained with us.
If he had, he could and likely would have elaborated on a story, with a description of other participants and the scenario that upset him.
No actual training experience is a good way to see on the surface that a Yelp review is fake.
“Ben” was likely someone who called and was dissuaded from training with us because during our phone call we felt he was not a good fit for our program.
We are fans of being honest and direct with people (to a flaw) and avoid wasting anyone’s time.
Our belief is, due to our competition team success, a very small hand full of people, sell themselves on training with us… and then, when they are respectfully denied that opportunity, their emotions get the better of them and Yelp is an outlet for them to often creatively express themselves.
Remember, American Boxing classes are guaranteed 10 or fewer participants (previously, 12) to ensure the highest quality of training possible. This small number means that your personality and ability to get along with others in our environment, matters.
For an even smaller number of people, who make an online purchase prior to speaking with us, are able to experience a class or a week of training. This provides more time for everyone to experience each other. However, again, if the person is not suited for our family vibe and a coaching environment, they are thanked for participating and referred elsewhere.
We love working with beginners and have provided thousands of people over 2 decades, with their first Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA and No-Gi Jiu Jitsu experience. We have created Champions, we have made lifelong friends, we have contributed to our community by empowering women and children to resist bullying and assaults and are proud to say, we produce kind and respectful competitors that are upstanding citizens, and we plan on continuing doing just that.
